Mariposa Project

Project Objective: the MARIPOSA project, within the scope of environmental remediation and treatment operations, aims to reduce risks for personnel, improve efficiency, and enhance precision in operations by utilizing advanced multicopter drone technology. These drones are equipped with high-definition cameras, thermal cameras, sensors, and remotely controlled devices for collecting solid and/or liquid samples from contaminated soil and/or water.

Investment and Equipment
The investment involves the development of an octocopter drone equipped with thermal cameras and soil sampling instruments to prevent operators from entering polluted environments. This will enable precise aerial surveys and sampling, reducing exposure to contaminants and increasing operational efficiency.

Advantages of the MARIPOSA Project

  • Reduction of Time and Costs: The availability of specialized manipulators for any type of sampling allows obtaining the desired quantity (up to 8 kg) of samples within a few minutes of flight.
  • Safety and Health: Flight and sampling operations, carried out via remote control, are performed in total safety in compliance with European regulations, without exposing operators to contamination risks.
  • Environmental Benefits: Operations are conducted in a short time using electrical energy through rechargeable batteries.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Depending on the customer's needs and the nature of the operations, suitable equipment can be developed and implemented for each type of operation.

Future Application Areas

  • Agriculture: Monitoring crops from above, sampling to check for pests and diseases, using spraying systems to deter wild animals, soil seeding, and monitoring soil temperature.
  • Photogrammetry: High-definition aerial surveys for various purposes, although it is already a saturated market.
  • Assessments and Risk Analysis: Damage assessment after natural disasters, support for Civil Protection, and risk analysis for site safety.
  • Power Lines and Infrastructure Surveys: Monitoring of aerial and underground infrastructure.
  • Thermography: Checking the efficiency of photovoltaic panels and monitoring pipelines for leak detection.
  • Structural Inspections: Inspection of inaccessible areas, such as railway tunnels, for planning cleaning and remediation operations.

Conclusion
The MARIPOSA project represents a significant advancement in the management of environmental remediation and treatment operations, offering benefits in terms of efficiency, safety, cost, and environmental impact.
